On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about the hidden cause of diabetes.
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:13 The Hidden Cause Of Diabetes
Millions of Americans have Type 2 Diabetes.
35 million Americans to be (somewhat) exact.
Another 96 million Americans are heading towards Type 2 Diabetes.
They have a condition known as “Prediabetes.”
The cost of Type 2 Diabetes on our country is staggering with $1 out of every $4 in US health care costs being spent on caring for people with diabetes.
That comes out to over $237 billion each year.
On top of that, another $90 billion is spent on reduced productivity.
That’s a lot of money!
A lot of money being spent on a condition that is lifestyle related… AND reversible.
Reversible?
Yes, Type 2 Diabetes is reversible.
However, before Type 2 Diabetes can be reversed (or prevented) the CAUSE must be identified.
Certainly diet plays an important role… as does a lack of exercise.
But what else?
Are there any other factors that play significant roles in the development of Type 2 Diabetes?
The answer is a resounding “Yes!”
On this episode we look at one of these factors.
A factor that does NOT get talked about enough.
A factor that, although often hidden, may very well be THE primary cause of Type 2 Diabetes for many individuals.
A factor that should no longer go unnoticed.
Give this episode a good listen as we talk about this factor… this hidden cause of Type 2 Diabetes.
Then please share this episode with a friend.
Thanks!

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss the dangers of taking drugs for acid reflux and heartburn… and what to do instead.
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:12 Why You Should Stop Taking Drugs For Reflux And Heartburn… And What To Do Instead
Every day millions of Americans take a PPI drug - such as Prilosec, Prevacid, Zegerid or Nexium - to help them deal with acid reflux (GERD), heartburn, chest pain and/or difficulty swallowing.
Unfortunately many of these individuals ignore the warning associated with these drugs... the warning informing them that they are not intended to be taken for more than two weeks at a time..
As a result, they are putting themselves at risk for some serious side-effects such as kidney disease, broken bones and dementia.
This has to stop… but how?
That is, what can a person do to avoid taking these drugs?
More importantly, what can a person do NATURALLY to help their digestive system improve to the point that they don’t need a PPI drug?
On this episode we lay out an exact plan.
Specifically, we share four tactics anyone can employ to improve their digestion.
In addition, we do something very few doctors will do:
We discuss HOW a person develops acid reflux (GERD) and heartburn so they can better understand how to correct it.
We also provide three very important questions a person should ask their doctor BEFORE ever taking a PPI drug.
Please give this episode a good listen as you won’t hear this information anywhere else.
Then share this episode with a friend.

“The Symptom Survey"
On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss an unhealthy lie that everyone, unfortunately, tends to believe.
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:10 The Unhealthy Lie Everyone Believes
On our previous episode we talked about the benefits of decluttering.
The feedback we received was phenomenal which made us realize that EVERYONE has excess “stuff” in their life.
Stuff they would be better off without.
On this episode we take a deeper look at WHY we accumulate so much stuff.
WHY we feel the need to “have more.”
WHY we allow our homes and our lives to be filled with clutter.
Interestingly, it all comes down to a lie.
A lie we have been brainwashed to believe.
A lie that can lead to destructive lifestyle choices.
A lie that we can stop perpetuating… if we choose.
Give this episode a good listen as it addresses the ROOT cause of many unhealthy and destructive behaviors.
Then please share this episode with a friend.
Thanks!

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss something that EVERYONE could do to improve their health.
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:9 The One Thing EVERYONE Can Do To Improve Their Health
What if we told you that, no matter who you are, there was ONE thing you could do to improve your health.
Would you be interested in discovering what that one thing is?
Of course you would.
Well, on this week’s episode we share with you this ONE thing.
And, while in this post we’re not going to tell you what it is (you have to listen to the episode), we will give you a hint:
It has nothing to do with diet or exercise.
Nor does it have anything to do with supplements.
Instead, it's something different.
Something beyond exercising and eating right that has the ability to improve your memory and ability to focus.
This ONE thing can also reduce your stress levels, increase your productivity, strengthen your immune system and improve your digestion.
And if that’s not enough, it has been shown to decrease your chances of developing diabetes and heart disease.
Intrigued?
We hope so.
Now give this episode a good listen and then start doing what you learn.
And, as always, when you're done listening please share this episode with a friend.
Thanks!

“The Symptom Survey"
On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about a prescription drug that is supposed to be a “miracle” weight loss cure. But is it?
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:8 Ozempic and Wegovy - What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You
Want to have some fun?
Go up to a stranger and ask them this question:
“Did you know that Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist?”
Needless to say, they will have no idea what you’re talking about.
For that reason, perhaps you should ask them this question instead:
“Have you ever heard of the drug Ozempic?”
There’s a really good chance they’ll say “Yes.”
Why?
Because Ozempic, a drug used for Type 2 Diabetes, is THE hottest drug on the market right now.
- So hot that it’s in short supply.
- So hot that the hashtag “Ozempic” has been viewed over 300 million times on Tiktok.
- So hot that thousands upon thousands of people are taking it without realizing what it is.
You see, Ozempic IS Semaglutide.
And Semaglutide, as you know from the “odd” question above is a “glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.”
On this week’s episode we explain WHAT that means… and WHY it’s important.
That is, we explain what a “glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist” is… how it works… the potential dangers… and why it’s in such high demand.
We also discuss how Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic, was able to create a brand new drug, Wegovy, simply by taking Ozempic and adding more Semaglutide to it.
Yes, Wegovy is just higher strength Ozempic.
However, it is NOT used for managing Diabetes.
Instead, Wegovy is prescribed for weight loss… which is why it is so popular.
Not only that, but Novo Nordisk was able to get the FDA to approve Wegovy for adults… and KIDS!!!
This is scary as there have been NO long term studies on Wegovy.
No way to determine the long term damage it might do to a person’s digestive system, hormone system, skin, or brain.
There’s also no data regarding the long term effectiveness of Wegovy (or Ozempic) for weight loss OR what happens if you stop taking it.
And, by the way, once you start taking Wegovy you are expected to take it for life… at a cost of $1500 per month which gives Wegovy the potential to be the most profitable drug EVER!
There’s a lot people should know about both Ozempic and Wegovy.
Information they probably won’t get from their medical doctor (for reasons we explain).
Give this episode a good listen and then please share it with anyone you know who is taking, or thinking about taking, Ozempic or Wegovy.
Thanks!

“The Symptom Survey"
On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss how our current system of health care is going to collapse… and what you can do to prepare yourself.
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:7 Our Health Care System IS Going To Collapse. Are You Prepared?
We, as a nation, have a problem.
A huge problem… one that may very well bankrupt us.
It has to do with our current health care system.
A system that’s not only in trouble, it’s going to collapse.
The question is not “if” but “when?”
To make matters worse, no one in a position of authority wants to talk about it.
Nor do they want to do anything to try to prevent it.
But the writing’s on the wall.
Specifically, there are two signs pointing to a financial collapse of our current health care system:
1) More and more people are sick and requiring medical attention.
2) Health care costs continue to soar.
Combine these two together and you get a nation that spends FAR MORE than any other nation on health care.
This wouldn’t be a problem if we were also the healthiest nation.
But, we’re not.
Not by a long shot.
Dozens of nations rank higher than us with regard to health… yet NONE of them spend anywhere close to what we do.
And the problem is getting worse.
We are getting sicker… AND we are spending more.
We ARE heading for a collapse.
On this episode we discuss HOW we, as a nation, got to this point.
We also discuss what we can do individually, and as a nation, to prepare ourselves.
Give this episode a good listen as it contains important information you won’t get anywhere else.
Information that will help you weather the storm ahead.
Then please share this episode with a friend.
Thanks!

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss how to lower cholesterol naturally… without the use of drugs.
(May take a few seconds to begin playing)
Episode 23:6 How To Lower Cholesterol Naturally (Without Drugs)
On this week’s episode we talk about natural ways to lower Cholesterol, without the use of drugs.
But first we ask and answer questions regarding last week’s episode… the episode where we talked about how you can lower Blood Pressure naturally.
Specifically, we ask:
- If blood pressure medication “worked” why does a person have to take it for the rest of their life?
- If a person doesn’t address and correct the CAUSES of their High Blood Pressure won't these CAUSES continue to harm the body?
- Why are there so many types of blood pressure medications?
- What are their side-effects?
- What “tools” can be used to lower blood pressure naturally?
From there we move to a conversation about Cholesterol…
- What’s the real impact of Cholesterol levels?
- Why you should question the use of a statin drug.
- The true cause of plaque in the arteries.
- Natural ways to lower cholesterol.
There's some really valuable information on this episode so please give it a good listen and then share it with a friend.

Episode 23:5 How To Lower Blood Pressure Naturally (Without Drugs)
Millions of Americans have a condition known as High Blood Pressure.
Almost all of them are prescribed a drug (or two) to lower it.
Unfortunately, very few people ever question this practice.
That is, very few people ever ask:
- Is it safe?
- Is it effective?
- Is there a natural alternative?
We believe there IS a safer and more effective way of lowering a person’s blood pressure… a natural approach that doesn’t rely on prescriptive drugs.
On this episode we discuss this approach.
An approach that relies on several “tools” that can be used to help create an environment in which a person’s blood pressure can be reduced.
Natural tools that are part of a holistic lifestyle.

You can get the answer by listening to this episode.
You can also get the answers, from BetyLou Pierce, to several other important questions.
Questions such as:
- What would cause Candida Albicans to overgrow and cause health problems?
