More people dying FROM medical care.

To make matters worse, it’s not getting any better.

We, as a nation, are on the verge of a true health care crisis… yet those in position of political and medical authority don’t seem to care.

Instead, their interest seems to lie with increasing the profits of the pharmaceutical industry… NOT on helping the people of this nation get healthier.

This is wrong and needs to be addressed.

Better health care options need to be made available.

Options that don’t rely on the use of drugs and surgery.

Wouldn’t it be great if Jesus sat down with us for an interview about health?

An interview in which He gave us advice on how to live healthy and happy lives?

Of course it would!

Unfortunately, we couldn’t get Him booked as Christmas is a really busy time of the year for Him 😂

So we did the next best thing:

We came up with seven pieces of advice that we felt He would want to share with us.

Interestingly, this advice is NOT focused on things we should DO to improve their health but on how we should THINK.

Specifically, the advice Jesus would share focuses on PRINCIPLES people should understand and ATTITUDES they should adopt.

On last week’s episode we shared the first four pieces of Jesus’ advice:

1) It IS God’s will for you to be healed

2) It’s OKAY if you aren’t

3) Your sickness may, or may not, be your fault

4) Don’t focus on your sickness, focus on solutions

On this episode we share Jesus’ final three pieces of advice… advice we believe will help you optimize your health AND heal you when you are sick.

Not because they aren’t important… they are!

Instead, we believe Jesus would tell us something more important.

Something that involves UNDERSTANDING Biblical teachings regarding health and healing.

Specifically, we believe Jesus would give us HEALTH PRINCIPLES that He wanted us to understand and follow.

Seven principles that He would want us to learn so we could live happier, healthier lives.

I love the picture above.

It’s of me (Dr. George Burroughs) and some of my patients in my office in Saraland, Alabama.

Patients who, despite being in their eighties, drive over an hour to be treated by me in my Chiropractic office.

The couple on my right is the Pippins (and their daughter). They drive from Florida.

Their ages are 87 and 83.

The couple on my left is the Sells’ and they drive from Mississippi.

They are both 85 years old.

What I love most about working with these couples is that, despite being in their eighties, they are extremely healthy, independent, and happy.

Just as people SHOULD be in their eighties.

Unfortunately, many people their age have given up their independence, and their driver’s license - long ago… mainly due to health issues.

Not these folks.

Nor the many other “over eighty” patients I have coming to see me in my office.

Individuals who still drive themselves to their appointments.

Individuals who still are “living life.”

Episode 22:49 How To Improve Your Mindset

For years now health experts have been saying that, in order to live a healthy life, you must incorporate healthy behaviors.

Behaviors such as exercising, eating right and getting enough sleep.

Guess what?

These health experts are right… those types of behaviors DO improve your chances of living a healthy life.

Unfortunately, there’s a problem with this advice.

You see, most people struggle to incorporate those healthy behaviors into their life.

Why?

Not because of a lack of time (the number one excuse given by most people).

Nor because of a lack of money or resources.

Instead, the reason why most people struggle to live a healthy lifestyle is because they don’t have a healthy mindset.

That is, most people don’t “see” themselves as healthy.

They don’t realize how beautiful, talented and valuable they are.

As a result, they don’t feel the need to take good care of themselves.

Interestingly, if a person could just switch their mindset… if they could TRULY see how amazing they are… they would take much better care of themselves.

It’s like a person with a beautiful car.

They would NEVER allow soda, or any other junk, to be put into their car as fuel.

Why?

Because they VALUE their vehicle and know that pouring “junk” into would cause it to not run right.

It would ruin it.

Well, our bodies are the same way.

If you allow “junk” into your body through what you eat… or what you watch… or what you listen to…

It won’t run right.

And, in time, it will be ruined.

Yet most people continue to engage in such unhealthy behaviors.

Why?

Because they don’t VALUE themselves the way they do a nice car.

It’s sad… and it’s time to change.

Time for each of us to improve our mindsets.

Time to realize how awesome and amazing we are.

And on this episode we teach you how.

Specifically, we share with you one simple, yet powerful, way to improve your mindset.

An effective routine that ANYONE can incorporate into their life.

Episode 22:48 DON’T Change Your Diet… Do This Instead

There are two things we want you to learn from this episode.

The first is this:

Your behaviors determine your health.

- Smoke too many cigarettes and you’ll get lung cancer.

- Drink too much alcohol and you’ll get cirrhosis of the liver.

- Eat too much sugar and you’ll develop Diabetes.

You get the idea.

Now, let’s look at the second lesson:

It actually begins with a question:

If your behaviors determine your health, what determines your behaviors?

Great question… and an important one as well!

Important because it is your MINDSET - what you BELIEVE - regarding exercising, eating right, getting enough sleep, spending time in the sun, etc… that will determine your behaviors.

And therein lies the second lesson:

Your MINDSET determines your behaviors.

Connect these two lessons together and you’ll have a tremendous understanding of health:

1) Your behaviors determine your health.

2) Your MINDSET determines your behaviors.

So, why is this important?

Because when seeking to improve one’s health, most people focus solely on the first lesson… on changing their behaviors.

For example, they begin to do things like exercise more and/or eat better.

And while these changes are good, they most likely will not be sustained, nor have a lasting impact, if the MINDSET of the person hasn’t also changed.

That is, if in your mind you SEE yourself as unhealthy, all the healthy behaviors in the world won’t, in the long run, improve your health.

Sure, you may look and feel healthier for awhile, but in the long run you’ll sabotage your efforts and revert back to behaviors that are consistent with your MINDSET.

For this reason, it is vitally important to identify and correct weaknesses in your MINDSET if you want to have any hope of adopting, and sustaining, healthy behaviors.

THAT is what this episode is about…

The importance of working on the one aspect of your health that most people, and doctors, ignore:

Your MINDSET.

It’s awesome that we have a holiday dedicated to gratitude… to the simple act of “Giving Thanks.”

In addition, it’s awesome how many health benefits are connected to “Giving Thanks.”

For example, did you know that people who practice “Giving Thanks” have healthier Immune Systems than those who don’t?

Or that they handle stress better?

And sleep better?

Those three benefits alone have a HUGE impact on one’s health… and they all can be improved simply by making “Giving Thanks” a habit.

But that’s not all.

People who practice “Giving Thanks” display higher levels of happiness, joy, enthusiasm, optimism and love.

Again, that’s not all.

People with an “attitude of gratitude” also experience less bitterness, resentment, greed, envy, fear, anxiety, worry and anger.

Wow!!!

Now, if you could take ALL of these benefits and wrap them into either a pharmaceutical drug or a nutritional supplement… you’d be a billionaire!

But you can’t and that’s okay because you don’t need another pill in your life.

Instead, all you need to do is get better at “Giving Thanks.”
