Episode 23:28 What To Do If You Have Trouble Sleeping

Nearly 70 million Americans have a sleep disorder.

That’s a lot of people!

On this episode we discuss what a person can do if they have difficulty falling, or staying, asleep.

Specifically, we share two questions you should ask yourself.

We then discuss answers to these questions… answers that will help you improve the quality of your sleep.

In addition, BetyLou Pierce shares a very personal story involving the loss of her 16 year old grandson.

HOW she is able to deal with this loss is a lesson for everyone.

A lesson you don’t want to miss.

Episode 23:27 Back On Track – An Interview With Anedra Brown

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk with our good friend Anedra Brown regarding some recent struggles she has faced in her health journey… and what she is doing to get back on track.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:27 - Back On Track - An Interview With Anedra Brown

Believe it or not, for most individuals the key to losing weight is to NOT try.

Sounds crazy, right?

It isn’t.

In fact, it makes a lot of sense… once you understand the secret.

The secret followed by this week's special guest, Anedra Brown.

You see, Anedra never set out to lose weight.

Instead, she simply wanted to “Get Healthy.”

To do whatever she needed to do to get rid of the pain and stiffness that caused her to hurt all over… leaving her a prisoner in her own body, unable to enjoy even the simplest activities of life.

This desire to “Get Healthy” led her to make changes in her lifestyle.

Physical changes.

Nutritional changes.

Emotional changes.

Changes that helped her “Get Healthy.”

And, therein lies the secret.

Remember, Anedra never set out to lose weight.

Instead, her goal was to “Get Healthy” so her pain would disappear.

Fortunately, she reached her goal… and the pain disappeared.

In addition, as a “side-effect,” she dropped nearly 200 pounds.

Yes, 200 pounds!!!

NOT by trying to lose weight… but by trying to “Get Healthy.”

We’ve had Anedra on before as a guest (Episodes 21-1, 21-25, 22-16 and 22-17) and, on those episodes, she did a wonderful job of sharing with us exactly what she did on her health journey.

(If you haven’t already, be sure to listen to those episodes. They’re awesome!)

On THIS episode, however, we have her on for another reason.

A reason most of us can relate to:

You see, Anedra’s health journey got a little off track this past year.

After moving to Mississippi in December of 2021 (she mistakenly says December 2022 on the episode) Anedra found it challenging to “stick to the program.”

As a result, she gained back some of the weight she had lost.

She discusses her setbacks on this episode… AND shares what she is doing to get back on track.

Give this episode a good listen as it is incredibly relatable and inspiring.

Then be sure to share it with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:26 The Strange Connection Between The Medical Profession And The Catholic Church

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about how the medical profession modeled itself after the Catholic Church.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:26 - The Strange Connection Between The Medical Profession And The Catholic Church

For centuries the Catholic Church has done a wonderful job at getting people to blindly trust and obey their dictates.

How?

How does the Catholic Church get millions of people to do whatever they say… no questions asked?

It’s actually quite easy.

It’s also brilliant.

On this episode we discuss the exact strategy the Catholic Church utilizes to get people to do whatever they are told.

To trust, obey… and never ask questions.

We also discuss how the medical profession saw how effective this strategy was and decided to copy it.

And copy it they did.

To perfection.

To the point where people do whatever their medical doctor tells them to do… no questions asked.

Give this episode a good listen as it’s a fascinating discussion on how an organization can become very powerful, very persuasive... and very corrupt.

Then share this episode with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:25 Why COVID Failed: Five Lessons Intelligent Individuals Learned From The Pandemic

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about how the Covid “experiment” failed and what intelligent individuals learned from the pandemic.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:25 - Why Covid Failed: Five Lessons Intelligent Individuals Learned From The Pandemic

Americans are more skeptical today of health care policies set forth by government officials than ever before.

Americans are also more skeptical of vaccines than ever before… vaccines that generate BILLIONS of taxpayers dollars for pharmaceutical companies.

Why?

It all has to do with the Covid-19 pandemic and the unprecedented amount of pressure the government and big businesses placed on the American people.

Pressure that was not only unconstitutional… it was unwarranted.

On this episode we discuss the origins of this pressure along with HOW and WHY the Covid Experiment failed.

We also discuss five very important lessons that intelligent individuals learned from the pandemic.

Five lessons you really need to know about.

Be sure to give this episode a good listen and then share it with a friend.

Episode 23:24 For Men Only: Happy Father’s Day! Now Get Up And Be A Leader!

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about it’s time for men to step up and be the leaders they were born to be.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:23 - For Men Only: Happy Father’s Day! Now Get Up And Be A Leader!

You’re probably familiar with the following statistics:

1) Most Americans are deficient in Vitamin D.

2) Most Americans are deficient in Magnesium.

3) Most Americans are deficient when it comes to getting enough exercise.

What you’re probably NOT familiar with is that, despite the negative impact these three deficiencies have on the health of our nation, they pale in comparison to the impact of another deficiency.

A deficiency that has nothing to do with a vitamin, a mineral or exercise.

It this:

A deficiency of leadership among men.

It’s true.

There is a lack of leadership among men in this country and it’s significantly affecting our health.

Not just the health of men but of women and children.

On this episode we explore what has gone on in this country over the past few decades and how it has created a society of men who don’t know how to lead.

Men who don’t know how to set priorities and lead by example.

And it’s affecting all of us.

Fortunately, this lack of leadership among men can change… and it starts by simply knowing what to do, and what not to do.

For that reason, give this Father’s Day episode a good listen.

Then be sure to IMPLEMENT some of what you learn.

Society NEEDS you to be the man God designed you to be.

In addition, please share this episode with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:23 The Only 3 Supplements Your Body Really Needs

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about why your body only needs 3 supplements.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:23 - The Only 3 Supplements Your Body Really Needs

Walk through any health food store, or search online for “natural cures,” and you’ll soon discover that there a ton of nutritional products on the market.

Some good, some not so good.

However, of all the nutritional products available only three are truly “supplements” that your body needs.

Yes, only three.

Certainly, a statement like that is going to be met with opposition… especially by those who take far more than three nutritional products each day.

If you’re one of those individuals, please understand this:

When we say “supplement” we are talking about a nutritional product that is designed to SUPPLEMENT your diet.

We are NOT talking about nutritional products you use to “treat” conditions.

There are plenty of those.

However, by definition, we consider those products to be “natural medicines”… NOT supplements.

That is, a true “supplement” is NOT a treatment.

Instead, it is a nutritional product loaded with key nutrients that is taken by a person in an attempt to SUPPLEMENT his/her diet.

With this in mind, it is our opinion that most people only need three supplements.

Listen to this episode to learn what these three essential supplements are and how they can help you optimize your health.

Then please share this episode with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:22 Tips For Making 2023 Your Best Summer Ever

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) share some tips on how you can make 2023 your best summer ever!

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:22 - Tips For Making 2023 Your Best Summer Ever

We want to help you have your best summer ever.

How?

By showing you the benefit of living WITH nature, not in opposition to it.

Unfortunately, living WITH nature is easier said than done.

I say this because most of us have allowed society to dictate our behaviors… behaviors that go against nature and are NOT good for our health.

For example…

When we go to bed, and when we wake up, should be dictated by the sun.

Yet most of us tend to go to bed, and wake up, later then nature would want.

Why?

Because we've been conditioned to.

We've been conditioned to stay up far too late at night and, during that time, we've been conditioned to expose ourselves to far too much electricity and artificial light.

Then we compound the problem by sleeping in past sunrise... ignorant to the fact that getting up, and going outside, as the sun rises carries with it some amazing health benefits!

Another area in which we don't live with nature is with our diets.

Specifically, we eat foods that are not part of God’s natural design.

Processed foods that aren't good for us… filled with sugar and chemicals.

We should know better.

We should do better.

These two areas alone - our relationship with the sun and with food - play a huge role in our health.

In fact, almost EVERY chronic disease is connected, in some way, to our inability to live WITH nature in these two areas.

Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Obesity… the list goes on and on.

But that can change.

We can make up our minds to live WITH nature this summer.

To use the 99 days of summer to cultivate some incredible, healthy habits.

Here’s a few suggestions to get you started:

- Watch the sunset.
- Don’t eat after 7 P.M.
- Keep your home dark after 8 P.M.
- Go to bed by 10 P.M.
- Wake up with the sunrise
- Practice “Earthing” daily.
- Eat from the colors of the rainbow daily.
- Eat some fruit every day.
- Eat vegetables every day.
- Cut out sugar, wheat, and gluten.
- Commit to taking whole food nutritional supplements.
.- Pray daily.
- Journal daily.
- Write one letter each week.
- Read one book a week.
- Get a suntan (prepare for next winter).
- Go to the beach, the mountains, or hiking trails.
- Have fun. Smile. Enjoy life.
- Spend time with family and friends.

Here's the bottom line:

The key to having a great, and healthy, summer is to live WITH nature, not in opposition to it.

You can get started by using the information you learn on this week’s episode.

Episode 23:21 This Is Not Only S.A.D.… It’s Destroying Our Health

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss the “Standard American Diet” (S.A.D.) and how it is destroying the health of millions of Americans.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:21 This Is Not Only S.A.D…. It’s Destroying Our Health

You know what’s sad?

The Standard American Diet… or S.A.D. for short.

It’s true.

The food intake of the average American is sad:

Too much sugar… too much processed chemicals… too much harmful beverages.

Not enough vitamins… not enough minerals… not enough “good fat.”

It’s incredibly unhealthy.

It’s also a sure-fire way to set a person up for a lifetime of chronic illness.

Certainly you don’t want that.

But what can you do?

On this episode we take a look at the problems with the “Standard American Diet” (S.A.D.).

We also take a look at the inspiring story of a man who turned down millions of dollars in order to stay true to his belief that a healthy diet is far more important than money.

Give this episode a good listen and then please share it with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:20 Want To REALLY Get Healthy? Adopt A Vitalistic Approach To Health

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss the importance of a Vitalistic Approach to health and how it can help you reach your health goals.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:20 Want To REALLY Get Healthy? Adopt A Vitalistic Approach To Health

Everyone wants to be healthier.

The problem is most people don’t know HOW.

That is, most people don’t know what they need to do in order to live a more vibrant and healthier life.

Part of the problem is that we live in a society where the health care system follows a “mechanistic” approach… an approach that looks at the human body as a “machine” made up of “parts.”

If something goes wrong with one of the “parts” you are told to visit a medical specialist who will treat it.

While this “mechanistic” approach certainly has some value, it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to helping people overcome chronic health conditions such as headaches, neck and back pain, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, skin diseases and hormonal imbalances.

Those conditions - conditions that account for the overwhelming majority of doctor visits - are better served by a “Vitalistic” approach to health.

What’s a Vitalistic approach to health?

It’s an approach that looks at the body as MORE than just the sum of its parts.

That is, instead of viewing the various organs, glands and systems of the body as isolated parts, a Vitalistic approach views them all as being part of a team.

A symphony.

Unlike a Mechanistic approach, a Vitalistic approach to health believes that what happens to one organ, gland or system will also have an affect on other organs, glands and systems throughout the body.

In addition, a Vitalistic approach to health believes that there is a life-force to the human body… a form of energy that WANTS to help us heal and be healthy.

On this episode we talk about this Vitalistic approach to health and how adopting it for yourself can help you get to the ROOT cause of your health issues.

Please give this episode a good listen and then share it with a friend.

Thanks!

Have you ever found yourself “stuck” while in pursuit of your health goals?
