Episode 23:21 This Is Not Only S.A.D…. It’s Destroying Our Health

You know what’s sad?

The Standard American Diet… or S.A.D. for short.

It’s true.

The food intake of the average American is sad:

Too much sugar… too much processed chemicals… too much harmful beverages.

Not enough vitamins… not enough minerals… not enough “good fat.”

It’s incredibly unhealthy.

It’s also a sure-fire way to set a person up for a lifetime of chronic illness.

Certainly you don’t want that.

But what can you do?

On this episode we take a look at the problems with the “Standard American Diet” (S.A.D.).

We also take a look at the inspiring story of a man who turned down millions of dollars in order to stay true to his belief that a healthy diet is far more important than money.

Give this episode a good listen and then please share it with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:20 Want To REALLY Get Healthy? Adopt A Vitalistic Approach To Health

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss the importance of a Vitalistic Approach to health and how it can help you reach your health goals.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:20 Want To REALLY Get Healthy? Adopt A Vitalistic Approach To Health

Everyone wants to be healthier.

The problem is most people don’t know HOW.

That is, most people don’t know what they need to do in order to live a more vibrant and healthier life.

Part of the problem is that we live in a society where the health care system follows a “mechanistic” approach… an approach that looks at the human body as a “machine” made up of “parts.”

If something goes wrong with one of the “parts” you are told to visit a medical specialist who will treat it.

While this “mechanistic” approach certainly has some value, it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to helping people overcome chronic health conditions such as headaches, neck and back pain, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, skin diseases and hormonal imbalances.

Those conditions - conditions that account for the overwhelming majority of doctor visits - are better served by a “Vitalistic” approach to health.

What’s a Vitalistic approach to health?

It’s an approach that looks at the body as MORE than just the sum of its parts.

That is, instead of viewing the various organs, glands and systems of the body as isolated parts, a Vitalistic approach views them all as being part of a team.

A symphony.

Unlike a Mechanistic approach, a Vitalistic approach to health believes that what happens to one organ, gland or system will also have an affect on other organs, glands and systems throughout the body.

In addition, a Vitalistic approach to health believes that there is a life-force to the human body… a form of energy that WANTS to help us heal and be healthy.

On this episode we talk about this Vitalistic approach to health and how adopting it for yourself can help you get to the ROOT cause of your health issues.

Please give this episode a good listen and then share it with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:13 The Hidden Cause Of Diabetes

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) talk about the hidden cause of diabetes.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:13 The Hidden Cause Of Diabetes

Millions of Americans have Type 2 Diabetes.

35 million Americans to be (somewhat) exact.

Another 96 million Americans are heading towards Type 2 Diabetes.

They have a condition known as “Prediabetes.”

The cost of Type 2 Diabetes on our country is staggering with $1 out of every $4 in US health care costs being spent on caring for people with diabetes.

That comes out to over $237 billion each year.

On top of that, another $90 billion is spent on reduced productivity.

That’s a lot of money!

A lot of money being spent on a condition that is lifestyle related… AND reversible.

Reversible?

Yes, Type 2 Diabetes is reversible.

However, before Type 2 Diabetes can be reversed (or prevented) the CAUSE must be identified.

Certainly diet plays an important role… as does a lack of exercise.

But what else?

Are there any other factors that play significant roles in the development of Type 2 Diabetes?

The answer is a resounding “Yes!”

On this episode we look at one of these factors.

A factor that does NOT get talked about enough.

A factor that, although often hidden, may very well be THE primary cause of Type 2 Diabetes for many individuals.

A factor that should no longer go unnoticed.

Give this episode a good listen as we talk about this factor… this hidden cause of Type 2 Diabetes.

Then please share this episode with a friend.

Thanks!

Episode 23:12 Why You Should Stop Taking Drugs For Reflux And Heartburn… And What To Do Instead

On this episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we (Dr. George Burroughs and BetyLou Pierce) discuss the dangers of taking drugs for acid reflux and heartburn… and what to do instead.

(May take a few seconds to begin playing)

Episode 23:12 Why You Should Stop Taking Drugs For Reflux And Heartburn… And What To Do Instead

Every day millions of Americans take a PPI drug - such as Prilosec, Prevacid, Zegerid or Nexium - to help them deal with acid reflux (GERD), heartburn, chest pain and/or difficulty swallowing.

Unfortunately many of these individuals ignore the warning associated with these drugs... the warning informing them that they are not intended to be taken for more than two weeks at a time..

As a result, they are putting themselves at risk for some serious side-effects such as kidney disease, broken bones and dementia.

This has to stop… but how?

That is, what can a person do to avoid taking these drugs?

More importantly, what can a person do NATURALLY to help their digestive system improve to the point that they don’t need a PPI drug?

On this episode we lay out an exact plan.

Specifically, we share four tactics anyone can employ to improve their digestion.

In addition, we do something very few doctors will do:

We discuss HOW a person develops acid reflux (GERD) and heartburn so they can better understand how to correct it.

We also provide three very important questions a person should ask their doctor BEFORE ever taking a PPI drug.

Please give this episode a good listen as you won’t hear this information anywhere else.

Then share this episode with a friend.

Thanks!
